While I don't quite understand peoples desire to own venomous snakes, I certainly wouldn't condemn it or ban it. I know a lot of people don't understand my choice in pets. However, in talking with people who deal with reptiles here in the Tampa bay area I have heard that there is ease and some fudging of hours required in getting a license to own these types of pets.
But I think what upset me the most about this whole event is that this guy had 4 young children in the house with these snakes. Is his desire to own the snakes to surpass the welfare of his children? A separate building perhaps would have been a better choice. Or maybe the fact that he had them in the same house with his children shows his lack of common sense.
