I used boxes for hides too for a while. I have a small collection (comparatively speaking) so have since switched to store bought snake caves. But the boxes worked great until I could buy caves for everyone. I found some cheap boxes online from a shipping kind of company and just ordered a bunch. It ended up costing $1 per box and each box made two hides. So didn't feel bad to just toss them if they got soiled. The photo is of Bella who was about 3000 grams here and fit comfortably enough in the box hide.
