KMSP (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota) 29 June 10 Pet Alligator Escapes in Richfield
Richfield, Minn.: A Richfield man found an alligator on his driveway.
When it comes to raising alligators, they are David Saxrud's babies. There is Felix who he's had for 11 years, and three-year-old's Reggie and Becker.
"The big one has been out for 11 years and I haven't had a problem with him these two little ones are rambunctious," said Saxrud.
The three-year-olds lived inside until this spring. Saxrud built a cage for the two that didn't do its job.
Jeff Fleming came upon Reggie as he was leaving for work Wednesday morning. He quickly realized it was an alligator. He called the cops and waited for them to get rid of it.
In Richfield there are no ordinances preventing domestic reptiles, no licenses or permits required.
Reggie got out again 48 hours after the first escape.
Saxrud is taking the precautions -- putting up extra fencing so his gators stay right where they belong.
"I do apologize -- shouldn't have gotten out but they won't get out anymore.” Pet Alligator Escapes in Richfield
