Ok so what's the deal with these Tigers?

This is a Kahl line male Tiger. I'm wondering if all Tigers lose the black background color as they age? This is the first Tiger I have raised up so I'm wondering if this is how they all look with age or what the deal is. Pete did bred Tiger x Enchi last year from what I was told but I think this one is just a regular Tiger just the same. Input from those in the know is appreciated!
