"The officer had walked up to the home of his neighbor and said that it they
made a statement contradicting his he would make their lives a living Hell.
Now does that sound like a upstanding officer to you? A dog that was
wagging her tail and bringing a toy to play was a REAL threat?!?"
in a comment above it by Tulong, which has already posted on several herp websites, it states that a dog was shot while running AWAY from the officers.
When I was hosting the Monona WI shows, at one of the first shows, one of the vendors was a police officer. He had various colubrids, mostly kings and ratsnakes.
He was telling me about his adult caimans and several 4-6 ft alligators that he kept in his home. I knew that these were illegal to keep in his municipality, and I sarcastically commented on the law. His response was that he isn't worried. ACO's in that city aren't armed and they don't mess with those who are.
I guess if the police feel they are above the law and can do, or keep things that are illegal for everyone else, even though the law does not exempt them, and then go so far as to admit to breaking the law based on their contempt for it, then it makes it really hard for others to respect laws in general, and the authorities in general.
Based on whats been published so far about the Terry Cullen case already, in addition to some inside information posted on various other reptile sites like this one as well as Bush League Breeders Club, as far as I am concerned the authorities have no credibility or moral authority on their side, just brute force and gestapo tactics.
