>>One side of the egg crate is dry the bottom half is touching the surface of standing water. I thought they would start to plump back up after being laid but it seems like they might be drying out more.

>>The only thing I can think of is maybe my lid does not fit tight enough. Can I just put plastic wrap on the container for the lid or should I switch containers completely.

>>If they start to get worse in the next couple of days I am gonna switch them over to a perlite setup.

>>Thanks for everyones help.

Yeah i use plastic wrap on the top on mine...and i used to have them air tight, but now i put one small hole at the top of the side and another small hole in the side that is just above the perlite level inside of the box.(That way there is at least a small method of gas exchange going on.Without letting out the moisture that the eggs need.)

Go ahead and get some perlite because it has two pluses..One is the it helps with evaporation since it breaks the surface tension of the water..,and two it makes a great surface to "float" the plastic grate on..You want it to act as a snowshoe does, and with that said you now know how much water to add in.(Since to much water will let the plastic sink into the over-saturated perlite.)

Plus with the showshoe thing going on it makes it possible to tilt the boxes so that the water doesn't drip down onto the eggs from the inside ceiling of the box,yet maintain that level suface for the eggs themselves.
