You know what's sad? And all too typical in cases like this? The irony in juxtaposing these two statements:



Santhuff faced 21 charges of wildlife endangerment



Most of the confiscated turtles died of improper care while in custody at wildlife centers in Georgia and South Carolina.



But did said wildlife centers get charged with wildlife endangerment? Or just the fella who was successfully maintaining them?
