I have a pair of blue jays who come onto the back porch to steal cat kibble even thought the cats are right there! Really nervy little squawkers! Squawk! Squawk! Squawk! I got annoyed with this so I put my bull snakes out on the porch in a screen tub next to the cat food pan and went back inside (the birds wont come if a human is on the porch) and I watched from behind the screen door. The blue jays went ballistic, screaming and hopping from branch to branch in the nearby sequoia tree, but would not chance passing near the snakes. Unfortunately I could not leave my snakes out there unsupervised, and when I brought them back in the little blue thieves were at it again. Oh, well, they don't eat much.
