Posted by: easternnewbie at Sat Aug 7 12:20:51 2010 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by easternnewbie ] I just hatched a clutch of wild eastern eggs from an injured female. 14 fertile eggs-all hatched, along with 13 slugs and two eggs that looked good but never candled alive from day 1. temp 82-85--most consistently at 83. First hatched at 48 days, most at 49 and the latest one at 53 (after I slit her). they have been returned to the wild. I had never seen hognose eggs before, and they were paper thin with little or no obvious calcification. and very turgid throughout incubation despite keeping them pretty dry. Is that normal?Sickly looking female produced very robust babies, although I was able to feed her a few weeks before she layed. [ Hide Replies ]
