When it comes to reptiles, the breeding age is not important... As long as the female is in proper condition for breeding and is ovulating, she is good to go... I have a female that bred at 14 months old... That is much younger than the "recomended breeding age"... She double clutched for me flawlessly...

I got ripped apart on a UK site for breeding her at that age and everyone told me how she would become eggbound and die or lay all slugs... LOL... I guess what I am getting at is I generally do not believe in rules of thumb when it comes to keeping reptiles... They are usually very general and are bits of unfounded, regurgitated information that can be applied to a dozen other species...
