I would agree that the name game does have problems. I can't believe this is causing such an uproar! As i said in another post, the point, in my opinion anyway, of giving it another name besides spider clown, is to simplify the title when you throw other morphs into the equation. If i produce a pastel spider clown next year, I would call it a Bumble Bee Clown. And as someone already suggested a super pastel spider clown would be a Creepy Killer Clown. I don't consider myself a Professional breeder, only because this isn't my main source of income, but I do take exception to being called a novice. In my opinion I'm a hobbyist. I currently have more than 50 ball pythons in my collection, and have been breeding and keeping them for more than 5 years now, the only reason that I haven't set up at any shows as of yet is because this is the first year I've had good enough breeding results that I feel like I could actually set up at a show and make money. Thats not easy to do when you have to compete with guys like Ian G, BHB and such, when all you have is a half dozen spiders, pastels and yellowbelly's.
I think part of the allure to the people who buy these morphs is the possibility of being the first to create a morph combo and being able to name it.
I would really like some feedback from some of the big breeders like Ralph, Kevin, Brian etc.
I would like to reiterate that i'm not trying to make any enemies with this post, rather i would like some intelligent discussion on the matter.
