The painting is very good but there is some 'constructive criticism' I will like to give. This isn't to put you down or anything, but just point out areas that you can watch for to improve your already great skill.
First off, the rendering and overall composition is fantastic. I like how the background mirrors the expression and 'emotion' of the man. Your flesh tones are very realistic and must have taken a great deal of effort to get right (I always had a hard time with flesh tones when I was painting (though most of my painting has been 25mm scale fantasy/sci-fi miniatures used for tabletop battles and display.).
However the face symmetry is off. You can especially see it in the chin (the little 'dimple' in the middle of the chin...is way out of line with the center line of the face and the chin thus looks like its been pushed too far to the left). Also, the right ear is not long enough which further gives the face a strong 'out of balance' look.
Everything else with the painting is great, head size balances shoulder width nicely and the muscle structure looks great...Just have to watch the facial balance for future works. Though it is true that not everybody has a 'perfect' face, there is a bit too much away from the center line to make the face look 'right'.
The drawing, being an abstract or kind of surreal to start off, it just gives an rather interesting play of limbs...which makes it great to look at. I really do like the drawing. ----- PHLdyPayne
