Thank you everyone. We got a lot of flack before when we discussed doing maternal incubation, so I really expected a lot of negative comments. But my excitement outweighed what I assumed would be said. Yes, getting her weight back up will be a concern, but if she's not ready to breed next year, then we can skip. We have no true interest in becoming serious breeders, it's more of the excitement of seeing what we saw when we came home yesterday. It was absolutely amazing, to watch her surround her eggs and little faces staring at us. And it would have been nice if that stripe down the first one's back was complete! But we figured neither parents were het for anything, so it's not an issue.

As for an update: second one is still being lazy and hasn't come the rest of the way out. And a third has pipped. I'd say pretty good results for first timers.

If all goes as planned, we think next year we'll breed her to our pastel.
