Mark,....That is always great to hear about some positive stories involving reptiles. And it is too bad the good stories and experiences aren't heard more often.

Would good stories and interactions with reptiles sell in the media?,...certainly NOT!. See, as you already know, these false stories and portrayals are what "sells". And if more of the general public were more educated and informed on reptiles, they wouldn't accept all the ridiculousness either, but unfortunately I don't think things will ever change much about this.....a little bit yes, but not nearly enough.

Seems that people don't want to understand anything they are afraid of, and they stay afraid because they do not understand.

It is just one big repetative "catch-22" cycle of ignorance that is tough to get broken..LOL!

Wouldn't it be great to have students in school take mandatory "understanding reptiles 101" as a regular course in ALL schools??..LOL!

But then you would have parents suing the schools for subjecting their kids to "cruel and unusual punishment" I guess, and have to be compensated the rest of their lives from the lawyer's claiming they were all mentally tortured, etc...

We live in some very crappy times now in MANY ways to be quite honest.
