It is important to remember that Animal Planet produces television. They are NOT animal experts or experts on human phsycology. They are a ratings driven business that has been transformed through huge advertizing dollars into a platform for the Humane Society of the United States. Programing in the last couple of years has become more and more extreme and sensational with a real focus on meeting the ideological desire of HSUS. They crossed the line from educational programing to sensationalized "reality TV" style programing several years ago. Alien Invaders, Fatal Attraction, Hoarders, Whale Wars... does any of that strike you as educational programing? It's not! They are titles that are designed to grab your attention and generate ratings. The content is so outrageous as to be laughable. Although I don't advocate watching AP, if you do also watch who is advertizing. HSUS has turned AP into HSUS TV by pushing big money at them and then dictating programing direction.



The scariest part of the response was where they are trying to redefine "collecting" and replace that word with "hoarding". It is a subtle trick with HSUS fingerprints all over it. They are masters of subtle changes in semantics that can lead to serious legal issues... ie the legal differences between animal "ownership" and "guardianship". That subtle change in language can take away all your property rights to an animal. This tact would turn you from a collector to a hoarder and pidgeon hole you as someone with phsycological problems. They are not experts at anything but making TV. They know nothing about animal husbandry or human phscology. They are taking all their cues from HSUS who also has NO expertize at anything but fundraising and advocacy for their idealogical agenda.
