The snakes in the Iquitos area of Peru are Brazilian Rainbows. They have scale counts just like Brazilian Rainbows over the rest of the very large range of the Brazilian subspecies. The range of E.c.gaigei starts further south in Peru and extends south from there. Many of the snakes exported from the Iquitos area were produced by a breeder who honestly represents them as Brazilian Rainbow boas and dealers have been known to sell them as Peruvians after they arrive here in the US.
