The tongue should be red, but not necessarily solid red. The whole solid red tongue thing was either made up or misinterpreted by hobbyists.



Secondly, there is really no such thing as a "true Glades". All the captive lines (including the Love line) are South Florida Yellow Rats that were selectively bred for orange coloration. None came from any homogeneous orange rat snakes populations, and it is debatable whether there were ever any consistent Glades rat populations.
