I am not speaking from first hand experience but I have heard that three is about the max one would want to try. I have also heard that having multiple males can help increase your chances of getting your male in breeding mode (if that makes sense).

LAstly, I have even heard Dave say that he has produced a viable litter before by only introducing the male and female for 1 night. In this scenario I would think one could probably get the very most out of their male. I think the key here is being able to read your females signs and know when she is really ready for the male.
