For colubrids I use Flexwatt or whatever underfloor heat.

For boids in the past I used lots of Flexwatt. Now I use RHPs in the cages. Either works, I just like that with the RHP I don't have to fool around with adhering multiple pieces of Flexwatt to the cage bottom or be concerned with stacking issues.

I only stack two cages high for a few reasons. Between the cages I use 1 inch thick foam blocks wrapped in friction tape. Works pretty well - the top cage does not slide around too easily, and the blocks provide some shock absorption. Also provides clearance for screw heads, etc. Works well for a 2-cage stack, not sure for more than that.

I have the bottom cage on a dolly. Wheels rule.
