For the most part, the "Precautionary Principle" violates the number one rule of logic, science and perhaps civilized society, which is that those making a claim or holding a belief have the burden of proof to back up that claim or belief. There has to be at least an attempt at some sort of standard of proof (ie, "beyond a reasonable doubt" ), or any/every policy or action can be justified or dismissed.

And it's a paradox. Why should I believe in the "Precautionary Principle" if there is possibility it might be wrong?
