According to this anti exotic pet site - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=76381783336&ref=mf#!/topic.php?uid=76381783336&topic=12310

They were supporting and pushing for John Blake because they want to see the ownership of exotics banned in Pennsylvania and feel that he will be an aid in helping that happen.

Here is what John Blake said his stance was to them -

D - John Blake: In looking at what other states have done and acknowledging that there is a real danger to public safety as a result of PA's comparatively lax regulation on exotic animals, I am certainly willing to strengthen our state's regulatory position on this important matter. I would support a ban on exotic animals but I would have to review carefully the details of the legislation proposing the ban -- and/or act to inform its content -- after additional research and after taking testimony from experts in this subject.

So, I am thinking, It might be a good idea for all of us to make some time to contact John Blake and tell him what these animals mean for and to us, and what the real issues here are (or aren't) so that the folks working hard to take away our freedoms at least have a little opposition. You can bet the "experts" provided by the HSUS and that lot will be anything but.

Here is the sites home page. Please read through their position, especially if you are a PA resident who keeps, or values the right to keep anything other then dogs or cats.
