AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION 09 December 10 Croc trap posers now face jail time (Anna Henderson)
People who pose for photos on top of Northern Territory crocodile traps can now face hefty penalties including jail.
The Northern Territory Government says people who interfere with the traps are "idiots" and they now face tough new penalties.
The law will apply across the Territory and interference includes touching, standing on, entering, moving or isturbing a government-owned crocodile trap.
The maximum penalties include fines of $6650 or six months' jail.
The Government says the law has been put in place to stamp out a trend of people posing for souvenir photos on top of the traps.
