I got some time on my day off and so took up the camera and took a bunch of photos. And frankly most of them were bad! I've gotten rusty! But some turned out ok and here they are.
First up, is my female of a pair of Christmas Mountain Bullsnakes. Now, before anyone jumps on me, this is what they were sold to me as. What do I think they are? I think they are actually Sonoran Gophers, not Bulls! But I've seen that ad and liked the look of the adults and finally got me a pair this year. And at first I was dissapointed. So ugly at first! But they are getting prettier with time! Every guidebook I've looked at and referring to Stull's work shows that Christmas Mtns of West Texas fall in the Sonoran Gopher's range. I'm open to discussion from anyone on this! Thanks!
Next up is a stillwater LINE Hypo. Meaning, she isn't 100% Pure Stillwater Hypo from the original pair of animals that created this line. Her father is pure STillwater. Mother is from outcrossing Stillwater to Kingsville Red, and getting the gene back. And then the two Hypos were bred to each other. She's from Ben Rogers. I have a brother to her and two older siblings in hibernation now. Her brother is not as pretty as she is. But that's how her older brother was too. Never as orange. Her older sister is also very orange. Pretty line of snakes! Thanks Ben!
Daniel Parker had/still has some Indiana locality bulls for grabs. I asked for the blackest ones he had at the time. I really like how the female looks! Hmmm...see a trend here?
And yes, I know the only thing seperating Newton County, IN and Kankakee County, Ill is a road... But the point was for me to get a nice dark animal from that part of the country. Even this shot was a little blurry though. She would NOT sit still and rushed off, never to sit in a nice coil again. I hope with handling and more time she'll get over this and be more personable!
