I don't like heat cable! They fail quickly. I have two racks in the SAME room. One with heat cable, and one with heat tape. The one with heat cable I have been battling respiratory for 3 years. The one with heat tape I have not EVER had a SINGLE case of respiratory. Needless to say, I am building all new racks, and they WILL have heat TAPE!! My theory is that the heat cable just doesn't provide a large enough warm spot, and the ball is unable to rest it's whole body on the heat from the cable. The people I got my heat cable from are GREAT people, but I have concluded that heat cable is inefficient for the ball pythons needs!
