They open there mouth wide as a big threat but you can usually just pick them up by the tail and move them. They make fine pets but have very short life spans only about 2 years. I raised up some babies from a road kill and let them go in my yard and after a year living in the wild if I saw one in my yard at night I could catch it and hold it and pet it without any aggression at all.
