Last April/May I did two big laps around the eastern half of Australia- one from Brisbane to Cairns along the coast, then back down to Melbourne by way of Mt. Isa and Winton. That part was vacation and indescribably amazing.
From Melb, I hopped a plane to Adelaide to meet up with the work crew and drove back to Isa through Coober Pedy, Alice, Tennant Creek, Camooweal etc. Nearest "towns" to where I've spent significant time were Boulia, Longreach, and Eromanga. The Merten's, Spencer's and Ackies were from a station near Boulia. Got the panoptes and tristis near Longreach, and the gouldii was pulled off the road somewhere between Longreach and Eromanga.
Part of the purpose of the trip was to survey central-western QLD (Channel Country)to help update "the books"...eventually.
Nice aeneus FR and beautiful ackies jburokas!
