I would try to figure out projects that would have both short term and long term appeal. This would probably consist of a mixture of "co-dominant" and reccesive traits. Think of a pattern/ color combination that you think could be achieved through breeding and try to design a project along those lines that you would like to work in. The other thing I always recommend is start with buying females first if you are buying recessive traits. Instead of 1.2 VPI T why not try to get 0.3 for a very good price and then get a male next year when they are less expensive; you can probably get them to throw in a het male for free. This way you could have more females available in case one doesn't breed and have a back up het male for the male you purchase the following year. I always think getting females is a good way to get started in recessive morph projects.
Good luck
