but believe me if the stuff stunk or was problematic I would be all over it and would not use it. I buy HatchRite because it works well and that is that! Evan pointed out that maybe the stuff had already been dried out due to a pinhole in the bag or something like that. I think it is critical to start out with the right moisture content before putting eggs on it.

Secondly, "the truth" is that it is not just Pearlite which I don't use. They add something to the stuff to help it retain moisture to make it work better.



It has worked well for me as well as Evan.
