Its not exactly a "whats normal thing'
For sure, it could be called normal, as thats what occurs most of the time. But doesn't make it good.
If the cage is setup right, most monitors will feed and use the cage right off the bat.
If they hide, its because something is not right.
With wild caught animals, that "something" may be out of your control. As you are starting with a highly stressed insane animal. Yes, insane, what would you expect???????? just think about what it just went through.
To say, why your Sav is doing is impossible without knowing "the whole story". good luck
