30 animals removed from Manheim area home
LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -
The Humane League of Lancaster said it removed 30 animals from a Penn Township home Monday because the pets were living in unsanitary conditions.
The former owner, who voluntarily surrendered the animals, will face summary charges of animal cruelty, officials said. Her name and address were not immediately released.
Humane officials said the animals included over 23 reptiles - including boa constrictors, pythons, bearded dragons, monitors, tortoises, and a gecko - a pot bellied pig, and six American bulldogs.
They said most of the animals appear to be in fair condition.
The Humane League said it is contacting local reptile clubs to see if anyone can assist with care or adoption.
It is also requesting donations of 50 gallon or larger aquariums, 75 and 100 watt heat bulbs, basking bulbs, and pet store gift cards to purchase supplies for the reptiles.
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter's main location, at 2195 Lincoln Highway East, or at its satellite adoption center at That Fish Place on Centerville Road.
