Great ending for sure!
I had a very similar thing happen to me about a year ago. I was meeting up with a buyer that wanted a black milk about 1 1/2 hours from my house. I had 2 hatchlings left (they were pretty big, about 18" ) so I decided to bring both of them so the buyer could pick which one he wanted. They were in seperate deli containers, and not one, but BOTH of them managed to get the covers off and escape. I arrived at the spot we were meeting and tore the inside of my truck apart. After about 45 minutes or so I found one of them under the passenger side dashboard. I was able to successfully get that one out, but the other was never found after trying all the other tricks you mentioned. Hated to lose one, but I'm glad I found one for the buyer.
Needless to say, now they go in taped deli containers, inside of tied off bags whenever I transport, lol.
Glad you got that one back, and great Kansas shots. ----- Joe
