You are using a four cell square to determine the potential outcomes of two separate traits. A four cell square is used to determine the potential outcomes of one trait. Each side of the square represents one parent and the number of cells is determined by the number of traits you are trying to predict. In the case of two traits, the square has sixteen cells.
