Good Morning!

I finally uploaded some (bad) pictures of my Nile set up. I've adjusted the temps a bit by changing the angle of the lights. The basking spot is now a constant 135*, the "warm zone" is a constant 95*, and the cool zone is now a constant 85*. I'm not sure what the soil temp is in his Burroughs, I've been meaning to probe them. They are "cool" by the touch-test.

In my previous post I mentioned how well-tempered he is. Well since settling in a bit more he's acting a bit like I expected him to. Shy and skittish. If he sees me he will return to his Burroughs. He's eating crickets and has recently started eating frozen pinkys (not from tongs, I have to leave it in a dish and he will eat it when I'm not around.).

The substrate is a high quality potting soil free of pesticides and fertilizers and is at various depths ranging from 0" to 5" in the area where he likes to dig. I'm thinking of mixing some vermiculite in to hold moisture a bit better.

He seems very active. If I place my hand in his cage after a few minutes he will calm down and go about his business. He will walk up to and past me, but doesn't go out of his way to come to me.

Please excuse the clutter in the background of my reptile room. It was tank cleaning day when I took the pics and the mess was cleaned up after.

Please give me feed back on my setup. Like I said I've been keeping reptiles for a while now but this is my first monitor. I don't mind spending the money to correct anything that isn't right.

Thank you so much for helping me
