Yellowbellies were always difficult for me to tell from a light colored normal in the beginning, but after years of observing they seem pretty obvious now. The most noticeable indicator of a Yellowbelly is the belly pattern and coloring, it is most commonly a checkerboard pattern that runs the full length of the snake on each side of the belly. The belly also has a light yellow hue to it, not pure white like most normal ball pythons. They can and usually have increased blushing and flames that rise up the sides from the belly. I hope this helps you, also I spend alot of time going to google and searching the images for snakes I would like to learn about, search yellowbelly in google images and you will see lots of them, this will help to train the eye to the subtle nuances of a yellowbelly and other morphs as well.
Good Luck,
Mark
