Need more info is the female's vent ok or has it been chewed and healed over. No reason why you can't try if the vent is clear and in normal shape. I had a normal female rescue that the person closed the door on her tail about 1/2 inch from her vent she laid 6 perfect eggs.Even though she lost the back portion of her tail.
