housing them individually is what I prefer

why do you want to house them together? The only time they need to be together is when breeding. Most of the people that I have spoken to that house BPs together do so for their own reasons, such as they think it looks cool. I have yet to hear from an experienced keeper of BPs that promoted housing BPs together for the BPs benefit. I wouldn't risk it due to the stress that it places upon the snakes.
