Wasn't it just a week ago that I said I have never had a female ovulate with the male still in the cage? For some reason, my males quit breeding a female a few days before, I can sense the female is about to ovulate, so after a few days of non-breeding, I pull the male out, and my ovulation happens almost instantly.

I thought perhaps there was some science behind this, maybe the male being removed made the female less stressed out, allowing them to ovulate.

Well last night I had my first ever ovulation with the male still in the cage. This is a VPI T-positive female that was bred by a hypo arabesque. The arabesque is 100% het albino, but that wasn't my goal, I'm aiming for hypo arabs het VPI.

I haven't removed him yet because he's still been breeding. Especially over the last week, he must have known she was ready to ovulate, because he's been breeding especially hard in the last 6-7 days. Or maybe he's really horny?

But it gets weirder....

She ovulated with the football last night, I come home today and find her swelling has gone back down, and he's breeding her again! Horny lil fella, might have to find another girl for him.

Sorry for the bad picture of the ovulation, it was taken from a cell phone

And today, he's attempting to breed her again! I didn't catch them locked up, but he is trying!

Thanks,

Tony
