I think what they are talking about are the people that have them as pets. If it is illegal to own them and people getting scared and tossing them for fear of legal action against them. Not the breeders themselves tossing animals because of loss of monetary value.



With some pet owners it is simply about ease. It is easier and cheaper to let their "beloved" pet go than spend the money to be able to legally keep it.



Personally, I agree with one of the above posts. Yes, I agree there are non-native snakes in the everglades......but why don't law makers do something about the feral cats and dogs? There are MANY MANY more of those than the snakes. And last time I checked they didn't eat grass and bugs. They are killing the native animals like rabbits and such. However, we go back the fear aspect. People aren't generally afraid of a cat running around loose. But most people are freaked out if they even find out you have a snake securely in a cage in your home.
