I'm sorry you've heard that people are leaving the hobby, but from my experience the reptile industry is staying strong. For example, we just got back from the Repticon show in Atlanta this weekend and there were a lot of people buying reptiles (of all kinds). Despite the current addition to the registry of injurious animals, there were plenty of people buying not only ball pythons, but also a good number of Burmese. I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout and I'm really excited about 2012.
No doubt there are things we need to do as an industry to fight this and any future legislation, but I firmly believe we will rally together and address this in a legal forum where it resides now.
