a few years ago I had one get out and into a closet where it hid on a coat hanger inside one of my wife's dresses.

When you walk into the room ask yourself where is the darkest warmest spot in the room. That includes places up off the floor like shelves and in drawers. Start with the darkest and work your way down the list.
