So, He was in his tank....... I looked in there, but I didn't move his hide box, it is a pop tart box for crying out loud. I looked under his water dish, in his tunnel. He had burrowed in his bedding up under his box. I just didn't even think he would burrow under a cardboard box without the box looking disturbed. i will know better next time. huge thank you for the help and advice.
