Never have issues like that with any of my Sonorans. One of the sources that I used to keep around for answers to questions like yours was John Rossi's book "What's Wrong with my Snake". Can't seem to locate my copy just now but is a highly recommended read. Should give you some good ideas for upkeep in general. Hope that helps.
