As many people are aware of, the Pro Exotics fire was investigated by a bus load of professional fire investigators trying to determine how the fire might have started and who to pin the insurance claim on.

With a giant sigh of relief, I was pleased to receive a letter a couple of weeks ago from the insurance investigators stating that the probable cause of the PE fire probably had something to do with an overload in the power strips.

The bottom line is that a chain is only as strong as the weakest link and if we are going to run thousands of watts of power through our snake rooms, we had better make sure to eliminate ALL of the weak links in our chain.

Cheap Chinese plastic power strips are definitely a weak link that needs to be dealt with.

Better fire alarms and prompt alerting systems are also a must in any large scale breeding operation.

I hope we can all put our collective heads together and help devise a safer way to keep our animals warm.
