The chances of you getting it on mice are slim to none. The chanes of it dying are extremely high. Eastern hogs are a species better left in the wild unless you have years of experience with them. A CB eastern hog is a good way to start. The mortality rate even in CB eastern hogs is pretty high. I have been keeping hognose for the better part of my life and am pretty good with them. I still have hognose die on me. Wildcaught ones are the worst...some will refuse all food, even toads, and most die after a year or so max. I would let it go and invest in a snake that you will enjoy for longer than the possible month the snake will stay alive, such as a quality CB western hognose or a CB eastern hognose that has been switched to mice. Because even those people selling toads for 58 cents now will be really having a hard time getting them in November-Feb/March when the toads go subterranean. So the best option is to let the little guy go. They sure are fun to have and are pretty, but it in all liklihood will not make it if you keep it (no offense to you! As I said, even I have trouble keeping some WC's alive). Good luck and please let the little guy go on his way. Andy [ Hide Replies ]
