I cut four 2x4 blocks at 5 15/16" exact as spacers..I tried building it upsidedown like most people starting with the top shelf. Doing this myself i got 3 shelves on and realised it wasnt working as far as square and such. so ripped it back apart and figured out where i would have enough room for each opening and shelf width and did it from bottom up. I did end up with 1 1/2" overhang on top but no biggy to me.The lawan backer is three peices so i put the 2 end peices on after the first shelf screwing it on the 2x4 uprite and along the first shelf.Helped to keep it square all the way up. put the 4 blocks i cut at each 2x4 corner and layed the next shelf on and screwed shelf in place. then so the back never sags i used the blocks along the 2 side back panes and screwed them in.
sorry its alittle long,
Casey
