It's been ages since I've been on a kingsnake forum... almost 10 years I believe. I use to deal with Leopard/Crested/Helmeted geckos & Rosy boas way back when. I've moved on to hognoses mostly, I also have a couple balls aside from my husbands collection. I would really like to get into the Rhamphiophis species as well, very intrigued by them. So that's just a little tidbit about me.

Back to why I started my post. I have a rather large unproven 2004 female western that I hope to breed this coming season. She was fairly uninterested this past breeding season, so I'll be trying some other methods. The guy that owned her before would give her about 4-6 adult mice a feeding (she really did look like a tightly packed stuffed sausage when I got her in October) he also stated he could never get her to breed. Does anyone think she's overweight & that might have something to do with why she wasn't interested in breeding this past season? I know in some cases some animals (not counting humans) aren't so willing or interested in breeding when overweight. I will say though I don't give her that many mice, I cut that feeding regime in half, I felt that was just too much every other week. She lost a little bit of weight but not that much.

I curious about record weights and lengths. Whats the biggest western hognose out there? She was like most snakes a little unwilling to be measured so I'm guessing shes about 42-44" roughly.



Only thing I'm having a little trouble deciding is if I should breed her to my Conda or my Albino lol. Or if I should breed one and try double clutching the other. She's 100% het Albino. Both potentially great outcomes provided if she breeds.
