Hi Dave. I try to drop in every so often. Found two large eastern milk adults in my garage this spring (late April). One was the same male that I found last fall. The other I'm guessing is his girlfriend. No others since. I think they den up in my foundation in the winter and then head to the woods come spring to eat and then return to the den to lay eggs in the mid summer. I usually see the hatchlings in fall (mid to late September).

Here's another eastern milk story: I got a phone call from a nearby animal control officer saying that somebody in her town caught a small burmese python in their backyard and she wanted to know if I could take it. After a few questions about it's size and behavior I asked her if she had a photo. She sent me the photo and sure enough it was an eastern milk snake. I told her to tell the family to release the snake back into the wood near their home. If we had a ton of native snakes in Mass. I could forgive the officer for not being familiar with the species but there are really only a handful of snake species you generally see around here. Glad she called me.
