...when I purchased this snake as a yearling.
I had seen an adult male tangerine Honduran in a pet store and bought it for $300. (Imagine that, 300 bucks for a normal adult Honduran!)
This female was bought as a mate for the male, they were the first snakes I've ever bred and they kicked off a fascination with this particular subspecies that continues on today. This interest in Hondurans occurred long before there were any Honduran morphs.
Heck, back then there weren't any snake breeder webpages and no kingsnake.com. "Vivarium" magazine had yet to come and go, along with "Fauna" and a bunch of other herp-related publications.
Well today she passed away. I saw it coming, she had not eaten in six weeks and was losing her muscle tone. It's kind of wierd to lose a snake that you kept for half your life!
I guess as a "consolation prize" I've got a clutch of Northern Pines hatching today.
And finally, my first Corn Snake eggs hatching too.
