when they're pregnan like a mammal... if you have a 2000 gram female she can breed build and ovulate and still be around 2000 grams... when they lay the eggs they will lose about 100grams per egg... so if she lays 6 eggs she will way about 1400 grams after laying... It is nice for them to eat while you're breeding
them but not all of them will
