It would be great if you posted a pic of your nesting and discribe it, next to his. Then ask the question, why did the female eat eggs?
I can answer why, and you can show how to avoid it from occuring.
Reptiles eat eggs is they sense the eggs are not going to hatch. Why waste energy.
You have heard about pair bonding in monitors. Well if a mate dies, the living mate will mourn its death. Then as soon as it starts to rot. Eat it. This can bring up some really cool religious discussions. Just not now. hahahahahahaha
Again, they don't waste energy.
They give their lives to reproduce, and will do anything to ensure reproductive success. But they also know when to call it a day. And eating their eggs is a direct sign of failed nesting. See I did it again!
